Terms of use
Last updated 5 November 2026
The short version: professionals stay anonymous and never pay; companies are approved, see names only once a professional accepts, and pay a fee if they hire someone we introduced.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses the Consumer Talent Exchange (the “Exchange”), run by Consumer Talent, a trading name of Staff Selection UK Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14238416) with its registered office at 2 Hawk Road, Dewsbury, WF12 7AY (“Consumer Talent”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them. Hiring companies also sign our Client Terms of Business inside the Exchange before they can see any professional's name, and those terms govern introductions and fees. If the two ever conflict, the Client Terms of Business win. Questions: jamie@consumer-talent.com.
2. Who can use the Exchange
- You must be 18 or over and use your real name and contact details.
- Professionals can join straight away. Hiring companies must be approved by Consumer Talent before they can browse, and we can decline or remove any company at our discretion.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done through your account.
3. How introductions work
- Professionals appear to approved companies anonymously, under a reference number.
- A company can ask to chat with a professional. The professional sees the company's name and decides whether to accept.
- When a professional accepts, that is an introduction made by Consumer Talent. It is recorded on the protection record and stays protected for 12 months from the latest interaction.
- A professional's name and contact details are only shared once they've accepted and the company has signed our terms.
4. For professionals
- The Exchange is free for professionals. We never charge you a fee.
- Keep your profile accurate and up to date, and tell us if you've already interviewed with a company when it asks to chat.
- Once you've accepted an introduction, please keep conversations with that company on the Exchange, or let us know if you talk directly, so the introduction stays on record.
5. For hiring companies
- An introduction fee is due if you hire, or engage in any way, a professional introduced through the Exchange within the protection period, including where the professional contacts you directly or you find them another way. The full fee terms are in the Client Terms of Business.
- Use professionals' information only to consider them for roles at your company. Never pass it to anyone outside your business.
- Tell us promptly when an introduced professional accepts an offer.
6. Things you mustn't do
- Share contact details, email addresses, phone numbers or links in chat before an introduction has been made. The Exchange blocks these, and we'll be told.
- Try to identify an anonymous professional, or contact them outside the Exchange, before they've accepted an introduction.
- Copy, scrape or download profiles, or use the Exchange to build a list of candidates or companies.
- Post anything false, misleading, offensive or unlawful, or pretend to be someone else.
- Interfere with the Exchange's security or try to access accounts or data that aren't yours.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you add to the Exchange, such as your profile and messages. You allow us to store it and show it as described in our privacy policy so that we can run the Exchange.
8. Suspending or closing accounts
We can pause or remove access to the Exchange if these terms are broken, if we see unusual activity, or to protect professionals or companies. You can close your account at any time by emailing jamie@consumer-talent.com. Records of introductions already made are kept, as described in our privacy policy, and fee obligations that have already arisen continue.
9. Our service
We work hard to make good introductions, but we don't guarantee that any introduction will lead to an interview, offer or hire, or that every profile is complete or accurate. Professionals and companies should make their own checks before hiring or accepting a role. We may change, pause or improve parts of the Exchange from time to time.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we're not responsible for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make about hiring or accepting a role. For hiring companies, our total liability is as set out in the Client Terms of Business.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell account holders before it takes effect. Carrying on using the Exchange after that means you accept the updated terms.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Contact: jamie@consumer-talent.com.
